Dr. Nate Ewigman is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist serving the San Mateo Medical Center ambulatory clinics. He completed a PhD in Clinical & Health Psychology as well as a Masters in Public Health from the University of Florida. Dr. Ewigman completed his APA-approved internship and post-doctoral specialty in integrated care within the Veterans Affairs’ system (Chicago and San Francisco).
Dr. Ewigman specializes in providing health psychology, behavioral medicine and general mental health services to a diverse array of patients. His passions and expertise are within Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based approaches, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies (CBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE) & Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). He is honored to serve the SMMC population. In addition to this work, he is passionate about supervision, has expertise in quality management approaches, has a small virtual private practice and dedicates his time to training other mental health clinicians to perform psychological asylum evaluations.

Dr. Simone Heron-Carmignani joined San Mateo Medical Center and Fair Oaks Health Center in January 2018. She obtained her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Pacific Graduate School of Psychology (APA–accredited). Dr. Heron-Carmignani completed her internship and post-doctoral fellowship at UCSF-Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital with an emphasis on integrated behavioral health, family health and evidence-based chronic pain and anxiety treatments. She has expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapies (ACT) and mindfulness. In graduate and undergraduate schools, Dr. Heron-Carmignani conducted research on marijuana use expectancies in college students and nicotine dependence.
Dr. Charlene Kallusch is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist serving the San Mateo Medical Center primary care clinic and Gender Clinic. She obtained her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University (APA-accredited) in 2009. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and has been working to improve the quality of life of the clients that she serves for over a decade. She has devoted her professional career to serving underserved and marginalized populations. Her therapeutic work has addressed crisis assessment and stabilization, assessment and diagnosis, intake and treatment plan development, with a specific emphasis on substance abuse issues, trauma recovery, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, and personality disorders.
Dr. Kallusch has worked with children, adolescence, families, adults and geriatric groups and individuals ranging from experiencing mild to server mental health issues in both an inpatient and outpatient settings. She professionally collaborates well with a multidisciplinary and is highly enthusiastic about integrated mental health in primary care has worked closely with primary care providers in her previous work at Alameda Health System. |
Dr. Katy Shadish joined San Mateo Medical Center in 2017 as a post-doctoral resident in the Pain Management Clinic and joined Integrated Behavioral Health in 2018. She obtained her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Pacific Graduate School of Psychology at Palo Alto University (APA-accredited) with an emphasis in community mental health. She is passionate about serving the underserved and providing truly integrated healthcare.

Dr. John Sorrell re-joined San Mateo Medical Center in Integrated Behavioral Health in 2020, serving as a clinical supervisor and attending psychologist at the San Mateo campus. A graduate of West Virginia University with clinical and research interests in health psychology and chronic pain, Dr. Sorrell completed his pre-doctoral internship at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System specializing in behavioral medicine. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship in behavioral medicine at the VA San Diego Health Care System. After joining the San Mateo Medical Center in 2005, Dr. Sorrell provided clinical care to patients in the Edison Clinic with chronic pain and assisted in the design and institution of the SMMC's Chronic Pain Management Clinic. He has provided care to patients at Stanford University Medical Center, SMC Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, VA San Francisco Health Care System, and in private practice. He is enthusiastic and passionate in helping patients live more fully and consistently with what is deeply important to them. Through cognitive behavioral and acceptance and commitment therapies, Dr. Sorrell helps individuals to loosen the grip of emotional distress, live more, and suffer less.

Dr. Diaz joined San Mateo Medical Center as a post-doctoral fellow in 2021, where she participated in the Biofeedback Clinic. She has stayed as an unlicensed psychologist at Fair Oaks Health Center. She obtained her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at Spalding University in Louisville, KY (APA-accredited).
Dr. Diaz has experience working with individuals across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults, the geriatric community, and justice-involved individuals across inpatient, medical specialty clinics, outpatient, and non-profit organizations. Dr. Washburn received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Boise State University and her Doctor of Psychology degree in clinical psychology from Alliant International University-CSPP in Sacramento. She completed her clinic psychology internship and Post-Doctoral Fellowship at San Mateo Medical Center. Her area of focus is on preventable diseases and managing chronic diseases.

She obtained a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychologist from California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in San Francisco.

Dr. Demetra Stamm is a graduate of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine where she completed a combined MD/PhD training with a doctorate in genetics. She completed her psychiatry residency at San Mateo County where she served as chief resident.
She received the Marshall Greene Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Award while in residency, and the Sara C. Armstrong Award for Compassionate Care during her training at UC Davis. Dr. Stamm’s professional interests include community psychiatry, delivering integrative models of health care that are collaborative, holistic and trauma informed. She enjoys teaching and mentoring psychology students and psychiatry residents.

Dr. Aikisha Harley is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist. She earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in neuropsychology at Palo Alto University. She completed her pre-doctoral clinical internship training at the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System and a two-year neuropsychology postdoctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente Roseville Medical Center.
Through her various training opportunities, Dr. Harley refined her neuropsychological assessment skills of individuals across the lifespan with various neurological, medical, neurodevelopmental, and psychiatric disorders including neurodegenerative diseases, epilepsy, movement disorders, traumatic brain injury, cancer, ADHD, learning differences, depression, and anxiety. During her postdoctoral fellowship, her training also included pre- and post-surgical evaluations for candidates pursuing deep brain stimulation and temporal lobectomies.
Additionally, Dr. Harley has experience providing psychotherapy to adults and seniors with mood disorders secondary to neurocognitive disorders. Her research interests include medical neuropsychology, the impact of mood on cognitive functioning, movement disorders, and cognitive aging. Ms. Dolorfino is the Program Coordinator for Integrated Behavioral Health with administrative responsibility for patient services, support to clinical providers, and coordination for the psychology postdoctoral program. Marga has worked in medical and hospital settings for over 15 years. She started her career in health care managing a private dental office in El Cerrito, CA. She then worked as Billing Analyst with Pain Rehabilitative Medical Consultant Group in Berkeley and was subsequently hired as billing consultant with Physical Therapy Associates in Oakland to manage reimbursement with dormant accounts.
