12 hours of face-to-face outpatient psychotherapy (individual and group)
3-4 hours of intake/assessment/consultation services
4-6 hours on clinical rotation
Training and Supervision:
2 hours of individual supervision (in-person with primary and delegated supervisor)
2 hours of group supervision
2 hours didactic seminar; this includes 1.25 hours per month of Psychiatry Grand Rounds
1 hour training on group therapy
1-3 hours training on clinical rotation
Clinical Support and Professional Development:
0.5 hour case consultation/schedule coordination meeting per day
1 hour staff meeting
6 hours for documentation/administrative duties (e.g. outreach calls, email)
2 hours for research/dissertation
For a minimum of 2 hours per week, interns attend didactic seminars that provide training on selected topics, including various medical disorders affecting cognitive and emotional functioning, psychiatric disorders, and psychological interventions. The Neuro seminar focuses on neuropathology, cognitive assessment, and psychiatric conditions. Seminars frequently involve case discussions of various medical and psychiatric conditions. Cultural and ethical considerations in assessment and treatment are also included within seminar topics. In addition, a number of seminars are devoted entirely to multicultural matters. These didactic seminars are grounded in evidenced-based practice and legal and ethical guidelines, and presented by licensed psychologists and psychiatrists, as well as invited guests and Post-Doctoral Psychology Residents (with a licensed psychologist present). Didactic seminars include 1.25 hours of Psychiatry Grand Rounds per month.
Psychiatry Grand Rounds (12:15pm – 1:30pm)
Psychiatry Grand Rounds are held once per month in conference Room 100 at 225 37th Ave. These meetings are mandatory for all interns. During the weeks of Psychiatry Grand Rounds, didactic training will not be held.
